Someone is daring to say something not super sticky sweet about Taylor Swift!! Finally!! (Sorry…not a super Swifty fan). So if you know anything about Taylor you know she runs her ex boyfriends over the coals in her songwriting. A LOT. Well, John Mayer is call her out on it and he ain’t happy.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the talkative singer, 34, unloads about his ex’s 2010 hit “Dear John” — a typical Swift-ian revenge song that rehashes their brief 2009 fling.
(“Don’t you think I was too young to be messed with?” Swift, 22, snipes in the ditty.)
“It made me feel terrible,” Mayer (whose exes also include Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson) says of the song, “Because I didn’t deserve it.”
He adds angrily, “It was a really lousy thing to do.” And Swift, who has notoriously slammed most of her high-profile exes in song (including Joe Jonas in “Forever and Always,” Taylor Lautner in “Back to December,” and even her 2009 VMAs foe Kanye West in “Innocence”) didn’t give Mayer any heads up, he claims.
“I never got an email. I never got a phone call,” he relates. “I was really caught off-guard.”
And the “Waiting on the World to Change” singer, obviously, doesn’t think “Dear John” holds up musically or lyrically, either.
“["Dear John" is] cheap songwriting,” he snipes. “It’s abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, ‘Wait til he gets a load of this!’ That’s bulls–t.”
The timing of the song’s release couldn’t have been worse, either. “It really humiliated me at a time when I’d already been dressed down,” he says of a period in which he was quoted dropping racial epithets and describing ex Simpson as “sexual napalm” in Playboy.
“I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you’ve ever been, someone kicked you even lower?” he says.
FINALLY! Someone is calling out Swifty for a being a bitter chick. Can’t wait to hear what she has as a response. I mean, she had no one to blame but herself. She had a fling with JOHN MAYER. He’s not known as the classiest boyfriend in town or anything. Far from it. And she was not a 13 year old girl being taken advantage of. What people seem to forget is she is a grown ass woman writing songs like a 15 year old sobbing heartbroken into her pink bed sheets with her teddy bears surrounding her. I’m Team Mayer on this one. (never thought I would say that in a million years). Has she come out with a song detailing her relationship with Jakey yet?
