This makes me sad and angry at the same time. An interview came out today with Juan Pablo, and for some reason he was asked about if he thought there should be a gay Bachelor, and his responses were not what I would like to hear.
When a TV Page reporter asked the hunky star whether or not he thought featuring a gay bachelor on the series would be a good idea, Galavis, 32, responded, “I don’t think it is a good example for kids to watch that on TV.”
“Obviously people have their husband and wife and kids and that is how we are brought up. Now there is fathers having kids and all that, and it is hard for me to understand that too in the sense of a household having peoples… Two parents sleeping in the same bed and the kid going into bed,” The Venezuelan native said in the interview. “It is confusing in a sense.”
“But I respect them because they want to have kids,” the single dad offered of same sex couples. “They want to be parents. So it is a scale… Where do you put it on the scale? Where is the thin line to cross or not? You have to respect everybody’s desires and way of living. But it would be too hard for TV,” the former soccer star continued.
The show’s first Latino bachelor added, “there’s this thing about gay people… it seems to me, and I don’t know if I’m mistaken or not… but they’re more ‘pervert’ in a sense. And to me the show would be too strong… too hard to watch.”
It’s amazing that he says these things, but then he is the star of a reality television program in which he starts out dating 27 women. And then widdles down the number, so that every week he dates more than one woman, most likely ends up taking some to bed, and definitely makes out with a LOT of them. And yet, he claims that just because someone is homosexual they are ‘perverts’. I just can’t believe it. Of course some say there is a language barrier, but ‘pervert’ rings through many languages. I mean, even if he thinks it would be offensive to kids (which it wouldn’t be, jerk) what kids are watching The Bachelor in the first place?!
