Hilary was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and of course he asked her about her reaction to Aaron Carter’s creepy love declarations on Twitter.
“Andy! I’m going to hurt you right now,” joked Duff, who has been asked this question on numerous occasions recently. “Ugh! I don’t know. I don’t know what to say about it! It was so many years ago. I literally haven’t seen him in… so, it’s uncomfortable.”
The Bravo host quipped, “He’s just feeling you on Twitter, publicly.” Duff responded, “it’s nice to be felt.”
Fellow show guest Giada De Laurentiis, who was “out of the loop” with the news, asked Duff if the two had dated. “Ohhhh, yes, yes,” Duff said. “When I was 13… He was very sweet. When I was 13.”
Duff told BuzzFeed last month that she and Carter were in different phases of their lives now. “He keeps doing that,” the “Chasing the Sun” songstress said of Carter professing his undying love. “I mean, that was so long ago, and obviously I’m still married, and I have a baby and we kind of just… don’t know each other.” (After hearing his former flame’s comments, Carter, 26, told Wenn that he was willing to let her go. “I don’t know Hilary either. She don’t know me and I don’t know her,” he said. “I just need to shut up now about it. I think it’s time…”)
So, yeah, that is pretty weird. If you ‘dated’ someone at 13, it’s pretty weird to shout love from the rooftops like, 15 years later. Move on, Carter.
