YIKES. This is like, my worst nightmare. I am white as tissue paper with a tint of red so I am very disposed to being sunburned after approximately 3 minutes out doors, so if I put sunscreen on I expect it to work and not come back inside resembling a human tomato. The Honest Company’s sunscreen is apparently not doing the one thing it says it does, confirming my nightmares. YOU HAD ONE JOB, SUNSCREEN.
People have (shockingly!) taken to social media and begun sharing photos of their sunburns and calling out the Honest Company for not being completely honest. Oh the irony. Now the company has responded and basically says all these people are dolts.
“The Honest Company is committed to providing safe and effective products, and we take all consumer feedback very seriously.
“Our Sunscreen Lotion was tested, by an independent 3rd party, against the protocols prescribed by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) monograph for over-the-counter sunscreen products. The results showed that our product is effective and safe for use as an 80 minute water-resistant (FDA’s highest rating), SPF 30 sunscreen lotion in accordance with FDA regulations when used as directed (Shake Well. Apply liberally and evenly 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying and at least every 2 hours).”
“The number of complaints received on our own website about our Sunscreen Lotion constitute less than one half of one percent of all units actually sold at honest.com.”
So… I guess this response means they’re saying it’s a non issue and some people are too sensitive? I don’t know what this is supposed to tell us, other than just explaining the already explained directions for use. Have you used Honest products? Are they Honest to you?
