Gillian Flynn’s ‘Sharp Objects’ Straight to Series Order with Amy Adams for HBO

Now this I am looking forward too. ‘Gone Girl’ was a good movie, and a good book. ‘Dark Places’ was a good book but I have yet to watch the entire movie due to falling asleep. ‘Sharp Objects’ was a FANTASTIC book and I cannot wait to see how this turns out. I couldn’t stop thinking about this story for days after I finished reading it. And with Amy Adams at the helm, I’m thinking there is no way this will miss the mark.

The eight-episode series stars Amy Adams as Camille Preaker, a young newspaper journalist based in Chicago trying to make a better life for herself following years of self-harm that landed her in a psychiatric hospital. Her burgeoning new life is upended when she must return to her hometown of Wind Gap, Missouri, to cover the murder of a preteen girl and the disappearance of another.

Marti Noxon, co-creator of UnREAL, penned the pilot script and will act as showrunner. According to Deadline, which first reported the news, Flynn will also write some of the scripts. Wild director, Jean-Marc Vallée, will direct all eight episodes and co-edit the series.
